New International Tender

New International Tender Issued for North Macedonia–Albania 400 kV Energy Link

On 25 April 2025, AD MEPSO published an international tender for the supply and installation of a 400 kV overhead transmission line (“OHTL”) connecting North Macedonia’s Bitola 2 substation to the Albanian border (“Tender”).

The tender covers the construction of a 100 km OHTL stretching from Bitola 2 substation, through Ohrid, to the Macedonian-Albanian border. The OHTL will be part of the first interconnector between the countries and the so-called East-West power transmission corridor between Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania and Italy.

The estimated project cost will be approximately EUR 17 million, which will be financed through a combination of loans and grants administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”) and European Union funds.

The deadline for submission of offers is 9 June 2025 at 10:00 CET. The procurement procedure will be carried out in accordance with EBRD tender rules, with planned site visit 30 days prior to the tender closing date, which will be mandatory for all bidders. Interested participants can view and download the documentation at EBRD’s Client E-Procurement Portal.

The selection of the most favorable bidder is anticipated to take place in the third quarter of 2025, with project implementation scheduled to commence in early 2026.
