North Macedonia and the United Kingdom to sign a Strategic Partnership Agreement in the Field of Infrastructure

During a one-day summit in Tirana, the Republic of North Macedonia and the United Kingdom agreed to sign a strategic partnership in the following period (“Strategic Partnership Agreement”).

Under the Strategic Partnership Agreement, the UK will provide North Macedonia with a EUR 6 billion credit line for large infrastructure, railway, transport, healthcare, and energy projects.

The list of projects includes, among others: (i) developing a modern cargo and high-speed passenger railway from Tabanovce to Gevgelija; (ii) investing in healthcare and building new hospitals; (iii) completing the Shtip Clinical Hospital project; (iv) constructing a new building for the Faculty of Medicine and a Student Dormitory; (v) building a hospital and Healthcare Center in Kichevo; (vi) reconstructing the Clinical Hospital in Tetovo.

The Strategic Partnership Agreement would signify an important step forward in strengthening the partnership between the two countries and in advancing their shared interests.
