North Macedonia: Tourism Growth

Hotels and Wine Key to North Macedonia Tourism Expansion

North Macedonia is stepping up efforts to attract hotel investments and strengthen its tourism infrastructure. During a recent discussion on Corridor 10 and transit tourism, government representatives highlighted plans to simplify construction procedures and encourage the development of new hotels nationwide, including in protected areas, to boost investment and support local economies.

As part of this initiative, on 11 November 2025, the Government approved funding for the urban planning project of the archaeological site of Stobi, one of the country’s most valued cultural landmarks. The project aims to promote Stobi as a leading tourism destination, advance wine tourism in the Tikveš region, and empower nearby communities and businesses.

These measures are expected to deliver:

  • Faster and more predictable permitting and approval procedures;
  • Expanded opportunities in tourism and real estate investment; and
  • Better coordination between tourism, culture, and transport planning.

Through these reforms, North Macedonia demonstrates a clear commitment to sustainable growth and to positioning itself as an attractive, investor-friendly destination in Southeast Europe.
