Energy Transition in SEE: Belgrade Energy Forum 2023

Petar Mitrović at Belgrade Energy Forum 2023

Belgrade Energy Forum 2023 was held on 8 and 9 May, with the aim to bring together leaders of the energy sector in Southeast Europe – decision-makers, power utilities, investors, financial institutions, consulting firms, technology providers, and non-governmental organisations – to discuss the perspectives of green energy in the region.

Our Partner Petar Mitrović moderated the panel dedicated to the major challenges for an increased share of renewable energy sources in the SEE region. The panellists included Neda Lazendić, Country Manager at WV-International, Miloš Mladenović, CEO at SEEPEX, Maja Turković, Senior Vice President for Business Development CWP Europe, Chad Canfield, Director of Project Finance, Green for Growth Fun, John Šuša, Head of Large-Scale Project Development Eastern Europe at Trina Solar, and Viktor Delov, Regional Relationship Manager, Cross Border Power Trading, Danske Commodities.

They discussed the challenges renewable projects in the region are facing amidst the global energy crisis, in the environment of general inflation, an increase in financing costs and supply chain disruption. The panel also addressed the impact of the latest amendments to the Law on Use of Renewable Energy Sources that came into effect a few days ago, what to expect from the reform of the EU market design and how the introduction of the intra-day market in Serbia will facilitate new arraignments for the projects, among others.

For the third consecutive year, Belgrade Energy Forum remains one of the leading energy events in the region, acting as a focal point where the leaders of the energy transition of Southeast Europe meet and we thank the organizers for the invitation.
