Karanović & Partners Advised MTU Aero Engines, Prior to the Opening of the Facility in Serbia

A German aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines opened the MTU Maintenance Serbia, a new plant located within the newly designated industrial park in Nova Pazova, on 7 October 2022.

Germany’s leading manufacturer for developing, manufacturing, and providing service support for military and civil aircraft engines came to Serbia in 2021, for the reason of constructing a new Maintenance-Repair-and-Overhaul-Facility.

Karanović & Partners team, led by Senior Partner Marjan Poljak, Partner Ana Luković, and Senior Associate Milorad Gajić, advised the company in relation to the construction of the new maintenance location. They also advised the MTU Aero Engines in relation to tender for contractors and construction agreements, from the beginning of the process, ensuring that it complies with all regulations.

While the current number of employees on board at the Serbian MTU unit is around 60, their total number is expected to grow to about 500. In the first phase of the work, the planned capacity of repair hours per year is around 470,000. Comparing to the 1.9 million repair hours MTU Maintenance performs worldwide annually, the Serbian facility is expected to be a significant reinforcement.
