Our colleagues from Ilej & Partners in cooperation with Karanovic & Partners, together with DLA Piper Sweden, advised Verisec International AB on the acquisition of Alfatec Group d.o.o., a Croatian provider of cybersecurity solutions.
Alfatec was founded in Croatia in 1990 and was family-owned until the acquisition. The company provides security solutions, including cryptography and data management, to banks, insurance companies, and the telecom and public sectors in the Adriatic region. It also takes part in consortia developing AI software projects funded by the European Defence Fund.
Verisec is a Stockholm-based provider of payment security, data protection and digital identities. The acquisition follows the group’s strategy of expanding into new regions and extends its presence in Southeast Europe. Alfatec adds its AI development team and proprietary AI intellectual property to Verisec’s portfolio, as well as experience in EU-funded defence projects and in managing relational databases for large-scale transaction processing.
Our team, led by Senior Partner Goran Ilej, Senior Associate Nika Jurković and Associate Vito Jankov, handled the local aspects of the transaction.
