Karanovic & Partners Advises Euroclear Bank on Serbia’s Capital Market Integration Project

Karanovic & Partners is pleased to have advised Euroclear Bank on the landmark project to establish a link with the Central Securities Depository and Clearing House (CRHoV), enabling international investors to access and settle long-term dinar-denominated government bonds of the Republic of Serbia through Euroclear Bank.

The connection between the CRHoV and Euroclear Bank, a major international financial market infrastructure for the settlement and safekeeping of securities, marks an important step in the international integration of Serbia’s capital market, improving international investors’ access to Serbian government securities and supporting greater market liquidity. After several years of close collaboration with the CRHoV, the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of Serbia, this strategic project started its full implementation from 1 September 2026. The settlement, of five existing (unmatured) dinar-denominated government bonds of the Republic of Serbia is made possible within the Euroclear Bank system, as well as of future government bonds to be issued in accordance with the relevant issuance decisions.

Our work included advising Euroclear Bank on the legal aspects of the project and the establishment of the connection between the Serbian and international market infrastructures.
