2nd Belgrade ICC Construction and Arbitration Conference was organized virtually in Belgrade by the ICC International Court of Arbitration with the support of ICC Serbia, Serbian Arbitration Association and law firms Karanovic & Partners and Pinsent Masons.
The event, spearheaded by Senior Partner Milan Lazić, Partner Milica Savić and counsel Ana Luković, was held online for the first time and was attended by people from different parts of the world. Internationally renowned engineers, construction lawyers and arbitration practitioners and experts in the field shared some of the most recent experiences, updates and developments on management of construction projects through FIDIC perspective as well as the most recent trends in international arbitration.
During the morning session, speakers extensively covered through different perspectives suspension and termination of construction contracts. There was an interesting discussion between panelists on the best risk management tools and practices, i.e. what are the problems that lead to suspension and termination of construction contracts and how to avoid it in the first place. The afternoon panel was devoted to the newest updates and challenges in the arbitration practice primarily on third-party funding, online hearings and electronic document sharing as well as some procedural tips on joinder and consolidation.
